How to use “Alias Shortcut” for role playing dimensions in Framework Manager
Date is most used in dimension modeling. Given a sales fact has two different dates associated, there are three ways to establish relationship for date role playing dimension. All three method will end up the some result for report.
Case 1: create multiple date query subjects
Case 2: create a single date query subject and use two model query subjects
Case 3: create a single date query subject , use one model query subject and another “Alias Shortcut” query subject.
This is the best solution as all changes will be changed only once.
Great post, simple and to the point. I kept trying to create alias shortcuts straight from data source query subjects. This does not work.
